5.30.08 - Seven new songs recorded! We spent the last week tracking 7 new tunes @ Tiny Telephone in San Francisco. Song titles are "Sinking Soldiers", "Kids With Guitars", "Don't Cry, Sad Eyes", "Finally", "Us, Weakly", "Harmonic" and "Jacques Cousteau". Thanks to the expert engineering of Mr. Aaron Prellwitz everything sounds awesome. I dare say this may be our best batch of tunes yet.
We're currently plotting our re-entry into the World Of Rock. Hoping to have the new music released this fall, though it could be early '09 in a worst case. In addition to the new music, you can also expect a making-of rockumentary (we shot 5 tapes worth of footage @ Tiny) to accompany the release (we'll premier it at the release party in SF). We're very excited about the new music and can't wait to share it with you. Thanks for your continued patience - this stuff will be worth the wait. Also, thanks to everyone who came out to the Du Nord show - it was great seeing you.
3.21.08 - San Francisco show and new recordings! Your eyes do not deceive you. We'll be playing a show at SF's esteemed Cafe Du Nord on Sunday, May 25th. This show will coincide with our regrouping in SF to record new songs at Tiny Telephone Studios (where we tracked The Scene's Out Of Sight and most of Full Upright Position). Songs are being written, guitars and drums are being tuned, and game faces are being put on. We're super excited to track some new tunes and then perhaps - gasp! - hit the road for some limited live engagements. For now, the Du Nord show may be our only date of 2008, so if you wanna see us, here's your shot. Expect to hear a lot of new songs at this show.
Callum Robbins, son of Slacks producer and friend J. Robbins, needs your help right now. Please donate generously. Thank you.
Peter Ellenby photo book is here! Tim recently wrote the introduction to Everyday Is Saturday, a retrospective of Peter Ellenby's rock photography that was just published by Chronicle Books. Our good friend Peter is recognized as the preeminent music photographer of San Francisco, and quite possibly independent rock, period. The picture that you're looking at right now? That's one of Peter's. And he's taken many more defining shots of the Slacks, as well as scores of other (much bigger) bands through the years. The book contains several classic Slacks shots, as well as a foreward by X's John Doe. It is mightily impressive. Buy it here!
Marty on the air! Check out Marty's radio show, Radio Free Radio, on Waterville, Maine's WMHB 89.7 FM, Sundays 6-8pm EST. If you don't live in Maine (what??), you can stream it here.
AmPros! Everyone should check out the superb American Professionals, a rock band fronted by our illustrious guitar player, Chuck Lindo.
The Full Upright Position Acoustic Companion is complete! Download acoustic versions of all the songs on the Music page.
Jawbox tribute album featuring the Slacks available now! We're honored that our version of "Iodine" has been included on Until the Shaking Stops, the Jawbox tribute record that was recently released by 2 Sheds Music. You can order the record online here.
Bands: gear-sharing/borrowing wanted. We're looking to hook up with good bands in all major U.S. markets for possible gear-borrowing/sharing opportunities. We're happy to return the favor on the West Coast. Email Tim. |
